Vanilla Cupcakes with Chocolate Frosting

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup whole milk
1 tsp vanilla cupcake flavoring

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup whole milk
1 tsp chocolate flavoring

Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line muffin tin with paper liners.
In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, then vanilla extract and vanilla cupcake flavoring.
Gradually add dry ingredients to butter mixture, alternating with milk, and mix until just combined.
Divide batter evenly among muffin cups, filling each about 2/3 full.

Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until toothpick inserted into center of cupcake comes out clean.
Cool cupcakes completely on wire rack before frosting.
To make frosting, beat butter until smooth and creamy. Gradually add confectioners' sugar and cocoa powder, mixing until well combined. Add milk and chocolate flavoring, and beat until frosting is light and fluffy.
Frost cupcakes with chocolate frosting, using a piping bag or a butter knife.
