Glass Bottles vs. Plastic Bottles

Glass Bottles vs. Plastic Bottles

Consumers feel glass is a better choice for both food quality and eco-friendliness. Many believe it preserves quality and flavor while helping to lengthen shelf life.  They also believe glass packaging is better for the environment. When glass is recycled it gets turned into more glass.  It can be recycled over and over and never lose its integrity. Plastic bottles, however, are not recycled into plastic bottles. The plastic loses its integrity and needs to be turned into something different such as clothing or carpeting.  Because of this, some people say that plastic isn’t truly recycled; it’s downcycled.

Among the eco-benefits is that a glass bottle can be recycled endlessly into other glass bottles without chemical processing compared to plastic.

Here’s something else to think about:  Every time a product is packaged in a plastic bottle or other container, it’s new plastic. All new resources went into making, is not clean, and depending on the size of the bottle cannot be washed prior to use.  Glass bottles, on the other hand, can be made from recycled glass and are also sanitized.

Next time you have a choice between glass packaging or plastic packaging for an item, consider buying the item in the glass packaging, a OOOFlavors Quality Product.  Just make sure to put it in the recycling bin when you’re done!
